Library Media Center

    • Students attend library classes in the media center bi-weekly. 
    • We have a large variety of materials available for check out in the library. 
    • Kindergarten students may check out 1 book at a time.
    • 1st and 2nd grade students may check out 2 books at a time.

  • The mission of the Mt. Olive Media Center is to help our students develop a life long love of reading, as well as become effective seekers and users of information through collaboration with the entire school community.
     

  • When in the library, students will adhere to our library expectations.  

    • Use an appropriate voice level.
    • Be responsible and respectful.
    • Follow directions.
    • Take care of library materials.

     

  • The Alabama Virtual Library provides premier library and information resources to the students, teachers, and residents of Alabama free of charge.  Click on the link to access the library.  Alabama Virtual Library

  • Our library is open Monday through Friday from 8:30-3:00.  Each class visits the library once bi-weekly for a 30-minute lesson and book exchange during these hours.  Open Access is available throughout the day, allowing students to use library resources and receive assistance from the media specialist.

  • The library houses approximately 10,000 items for student use.  Follett Destiny Library Manager, an automated circulation system, is used district-wide, which enables each RCSD library access to the library collections at all schools in the district.  Destiny can be accessed from anywhere, 24/7, helping to strengthen the bond between the library, the classroom, and home. My name is Mary Fisher. I have two amazing sons, Jonathan and Daniel. I have had the privilege of being in education for 30+ years. I was in the classroom for 8 of those years and in the Media Center for the balance of my career. I absolutely love what I do!   I am extremely blessed to be a part of the amazing MOPS family!
